ridge view Hotel

Denali National Park, Alaska

high impact

Land Morphology served as landscape architect for the transformation of a four-acre site at the McKinley Chalet Resort, designing a richly layered landscape that reshapes guest experience through immersive placemaking and resilient ecological design.

Once a utilitarian asphalt parking lot, the site was reimagined as a natural extension of the surrounding spruce forest. The new landscape provides visual and acoustic buffering from roadways while drawing visitors into a tranquil environment that foregrounds mountain views and native plant ecology.

A key feature of the design is a raised boardwalk that threads through the trees, offering guests an elevated, fully accessible approach to the hotel while reinforcing a sense of arrival and connection to the land. The project prioritizes sustainability by reducing impervious surfaces, preserving mature trees, and restoring the site’s natural topography.
