Interurban Residence

Shoreline, Washington

Forested

At the Interurban Residence, the design preserves the wooded character of the five-acre site while seamlessly blending house and landscape. The winding driveway threads carefully between mature cedars and firs, opening to a home surrounded by native plantings that bring the forest up to the house.

Generous outdoor spaces include a pool and spa terrace with an outdoor shower, a secluded plunge pool and sauna at the woodland’s edge, and open lawns for play. Walking paths wind through the woods, while concrete pavers and decking unify the home’s entry with the natural setting.

Sustainability guided construction: topsoil was reused in new beds, tree chips were repurposed for path surfacing and root protection, and over 300 native trees remain on-site.
