Short Hills Residence

Short Hills, New Jersey

The Short Hills garden combines bold simplicity with a modern sensibility that complements the Arts and Crafts home. Broad bands of shrubs, grasses, and ferns provide year-round structure and ease of maintenance, while large handmade terracotta pots serve as sculptural focal points throughout the property.

A former perennial garden was transformed into a shaded retreat, where serpentine boxwood hedges and thousands of Astilbe in pink, ivory, and crimson weave through gravel paths. Along the terrace, potted PeeGee hydrangea topiaries frame views of the expansive lawn and gardens, creating a stately and timeless composition.
