2026 WASLA Merit Award — Residential Design
Tidepool House: Reconnecting Shoreline and Sound

Land Morphology received a Merit Award for Residential Design from the Washington Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects for the design of Tidepool House.

Tidepool House transforms a formerly hardened industrial shoreline into a living coastal landscape. The removal of failing shoreline structures and restoration of a sand-and-gravel beach reestablish natural coastal processes, enhance marine habitat, and reconnect the residence with the water's edge. The WASLA jury praised the project's exceptional relationship to its site and context, recognizing the thoughtful integration of shoreline restoration, habitat enhancement, landform, and plant selection. Jurors also commended the successful execution of the design concept, demonstrating how ecological restoration and refined residential design can coexist beautifully.
