George H. Weyerhaeuser Jr. Park

Tacoma, Washington

George H. Weyerhaeuser Jr. Park is a three-acre public space along Tacoma’s waterfront, designed for the Thea Foss Development Authority and situated beneath the iconic Cable Stay Bridge. The park serves as a community gateway to the shoreline, balancing recreation, ecology, and civic identity.

Large sweeps of perennial plantings provide color and texture from spring through fall, creating a vibrant and ever-changing landscape. Two dramatic arbors, crafted from recycled timber reclaimed from a former warehouse on the site, embody the city’s spirit of renewal and sustainability.
