Lakefront Revival
Seattle, Washington
This renovated traditional-style home in Seattle’s Laurelhurst neighborhood is framed by a series of outdoor rooms that connect the residence to Lake Washington. Terraces and gardens create varied experiences from the home’s upper levels down to the shoreline and boat dock.
At the entry, low brick walls, a scored concrete auto court, and lush plantings establish a welcoming arrival, echoing the home’s architecture and ensuring privacy.
On the lakefront, dining and lounge terraces with an outdoor kitchen and fire feature open to sweeping views of Lake Washington and Mount Rainier. Stairs lead to a lower garden with a swim spa, water rill, custom spa, vegetable beds, and a broad lawn at the water’s edge.
Planted in an English-inspired style with mixed borders, the garden highlights amethyst-colored Astilbe and a lit fountain flowing toward the pool, creating movement and atmosphere. Distinct yet connected spaces provide privacy, celebrate views, and support the needs of an energetic family.
